Adapter cable light was always green (never yellow) and the battery indicator read that, sure, it wasn't charging. It arrived with around 75% charge but the power adapter didn't charge it further. Tried resetting SMC, and removing and re-installing the battery. Not charging at all, computer REALLY slow even with power plugged in and immediately turned of when removing the power cord. Reinforced the part when it enters the power brick with duct tape. By this time my power adapter cable looked like it was decaying. Never again left the battery discharged for a long period of time. It charged fine and everything was well for a while. Replaced the battery with an Anker battery. I didn't use my Macbook for some months, when I tried starting it, battery was dead, stopped charging altogether, figured it was cause it discharged completely and stayed that way for a while which I understand can render the battery unusable. I 'm having issues with power, this is more or less, the chronology: I really don't like newer Macs and want to keep this one working if I can for several reasons. When I felt it was getting slow I upgraded it with SSD and 16Gb of memory.
